Pest of whole cereal grains sometimes hard cereal products.Female lays up to 350 eggs over a nine month period. A larva is a legless grub lives totally within the cereal grains. Pupae within grain. Adults bite hole to emerge leaving grain as empty busk. Adults’ 3-4mm long dark brown rounded body and long snout.

Significant grain pest but less common than Saw tooth grain beetle. Difficult to detect in early stages due to development within grain.
